Add additional M&Ms to the top. Use the 1 cup for the batter.

  24. Emily says:

Made these, love them. One question. Mine were darker in color than yours are in the picture. Did you use regular brown sugar or did you edit your photo to make it a lot lighter? Just curious why mine would be darker. Thanks.

  25. Six Sisters says:

We've used the light brown sugar and the dark brown sugar when we have made these. Doesn't change the taste at all.

  26. Nyrene says:

hi there, when do you put the m&m's on top? before of after baking? thanks!

  27. K says:

If your going to post a recipe test it more than a few times. This recipe baked longer than you said. It looked done but was not. I hate throwing away food. This recipe is wrong. Too high of a sugar content. Embarrassing.

  28. Kate says:

These were okay sadly enough they look better than they tasted just my opinion not sweet enough maybe needed regular sugar as well.

  29. Joan says:

Made two pans of these for a college lacrosse tailgate. I used Reese's pieces & candy corn in one, and white & dark choc chips in the other. Very sweet but all the girls loved them. Easy recipe for all seasons - use your imagination for add ins.

  30. Holly says:

I hate to be a Debbie Downer...but this recipe did not work at all for me. Very disappointing! And of course I made them late evening for my 5th graders class function the following day and was in a bind when they flopped. An equal sugar and flour ratio seems to be the biggest problem. I baked mine for almost an hour and they are still way too gooey and underdone in the middle. I ffollowed the recipe exactly. Perhaps a few more test runs are in order. It is very disappointing to waste time, energy and ingredients on a recipe that I should have confidence in.

  31. Stacie says:

Could you use a smaller glass pan to make them thicker?

  32. Cyd says:

You could, but your cooking time will need to be longer. Being thicker, they will need extra cooking time.

  33. TWhitmac says:

This recipe is so easy and the blondies come out delicious! It’s my go to for church potluck dinners!

FAQs

Why are my blondies not gooey? ›

Blonde Brownies Recipe tips

I'm choosing to add an extra egg yolk to make these blondies super gooey, but if you want regular blondies, use one whole egg plus one egg yolk. For super gooey blondies, add one whole egg plus two egg yolks. Save the egg whites for another recipe!

Why are my blondies still wet in the middle? ›

Ovens vary, and bake time can be affected by the pan you have used. We remove the pan when the top looks shiny and light golden brown. The batter might still look slightly wet if there are cracks, but the middle should not wiggle like jello.

What makes a blondie different from a brownie? ›

Blondies use vanilla extract and brown sugar instead of cocoa powder to get their flavor, while brownies use chocolate and cocoa. Plus, brownies usually include white sugar instead of brown sugar. So, now that you know the differences between brownies and blondies, it's time to try your hand at your own brownie recipe.

Why are my blondies falling apart? ›

If the blondies feel too soft, it likely means that they are underbaked. You want a gooey center but they should not be so soft that they are falling apart. You can always cut a little piece from the blondies, taste it, and see if it truly is done.

Are blondies supposed to be gooey in the middle? ›

Blondies are basically 'blonde brownies.' There is no cocoa or melted chocolate in the batter of a blondie. Instead, blondies are made with brown sugar for a rich butterscotch flavor and plenty of vanilla extract for a wonderful vanilla flavor. A good blondie is gooey, chewy, and a little fudgy.

How do you tell if a blondie is undercooked? ›

Check for doneness using a toothpick or wooden skewer. Poke near the middle when you check doneness, if very wet batter clings it needs a few more minutes. You can always bake it a bit longer if it's undercooked, but you can't turn back time and undo any overbaking.

How to rescue undercooked blondies? ›

One option is to put them back in the oven for a few more minutes, checking frequently to avoid overcooking. You can also try microwaving them for short intervals, again checking frequently. Another option is to cut them into smaller pieces and cook them in a pan on the stovetop until they are fully cooked.

How do you keep blondies moist? ›

Granulated sugar - simple fine white granulated sugar keeps these brownies moist. If you reduce the sugar they will not be as fudgy.

How to tell when a blondie is cooked? ›

Check if the blondies are cooked by giving the tin a gentle shake, they should be mostly set but a little bit of a wobble in the centre is fine. Cool completely in the tin – the blondies will sink in the middle as they cool, just like brownies.

What is a Greyston blondie? ›

140 Cal. This blondie tastes like it just came out of the oven, thanks to the super soft, almost-gooey inside. Handcrafted by Greyston Bakery—a social justice enterprise and B Corp that prioritizes inclusive hiring—for CAVA. Contains: Milk, Soy, Wheat, Eggs.

Why do my blondies taste like cake? ›

Tips. If your blondies are like cake when you take them out, it simply means they have been over baked – try less time or a lower temperature next time.

What is a blondie vs. brookie? ›

Visually, it is easy to tell a brookie and a blondie apart. Blondies are paler in color, while brookies have layers of chocolate marbled in. While a brookie houses both a cookie and a brownie taste, blondies use brown sugar as their primary flavoring.

Is it better to use oil or butter in blondies? ›

You can use practically any kind of oil or fat in these brownies, but different varieties do affect the appearance of the brownies. I find that butter and coconut oil cause the brownies to be a little more “wrinkly” around the edges, while vegetable oil gives it that perfect crackly crust.

Do blondies need baking soda or baking powder? ›

Per Deb, blondies have no place for baking powder or soda because that would lead to cakiness instead of her desired chewy texture. This recipe also represents a very popular ratio of ingredients (1 stick of butter, 1 cup each of flour and sugar, 1 egg), so I considered this the benchmark recipe.

What to do if blondie batter is too thick? ›

Adding Liquid: If the batter is too thick, you can add a small amount of liquid, such as milk or water, to thin it out. Add the liquid gradually and mix well until you reach the desired consistency.

Why aren't my brownies gooey? ›

If your brownies are turning out dry, it's for one of two reasons - either you've overcooked the brownies or there is too much flour in your recipe. Overcooked brownies? You can tell the difference using the edges; if they are a little burnt-looking and very dry, it's likely that the brownies are overcooked.

How do you firm up gooey brownies? ›

DON'T OVER-BAKE the brownies!

We take ours out while they're still visibly wobbly in the middle - all that chocolate and butter will be liquid while boiling hot, but when they cool down they'll set to their room temperature consistency and the brownies will firm up.

Are my brownies gooey or undercooked? ›

To test for doneness with a toothpick, insert a toothpick into the center of the brownies and pull it back out. For fudgy brownies, you'll want to see some moist crumbs attached to the toothpick when you pull it back out. If it looks like it's covered in brownie batter, the brownies will need to bake a bit longer.
