Beyoncé and Jay-Z are undoubtedly one of the most influential couples in showbiz.
The pair have been together since the very early noughties and have collaborated on a string of hit songs as well as in many business ventures. Behind the scenes they have been growing their relationship and their family ever since tying the knot in April 2008.
While the couple have superstar status they haven't been without their woes, having faced some difficult controversies including rumours of his cheating. Here we take a deeper look at the superstar couple and their lives behind the scenes.
Staggering combined net worth
Jay-Z was named as one of the wealthiest celebrities on the planet in Forbes' 2024 celebrity billionaires list. Ranked at number five with an impressive $2.5 billion (£1.9 billion) fortune the rapper is Hip-Hop's first-ever billionaire and when his wealth is combined with wife Beyoncé‘s net worth their powerful status is cemented with her $800 million (£632 million )extra sum bringing their total figure to an incredible $3.3 billion (£2.6 billion).
Jay and Beyoncé are also jointly the most Grammy-nominated artists ever with 88 nominations each, with Bey the artist with the most wins at 32 awards. Her music catalogue is valued at $300 million (£237 million) and her recent Renaissance world tour added an extra $100 million (£78.9 million) to her predicted net worth.
Both Jay-z and Beyoncé have invested their money wisely with a string of businesses they are associated with. In 2015 Jay also purchased streaming service Tidal for $56 million (£44 million) with both him and Beyonce making much of their music then only available on the platform.
However, after the service failed to perform as well as they had hoped it was sold in 2021 to former Twitter CEO Jack Dorsey for an estimated $297 million (£235 million). Jay-Z and Beyonce also own a vast art collection which has bumped up their net worth by an estimated $70 million (£55million) as well as an array of lavish properties in New York and Los Angeles.
In 2023, the power couple bought the most expensive residence ever sold in California, a Malibu-based property that spans 40,000-square-foot costing $200 million (£160 million). They also own lavish properties in East Hampton, New York, and a penthouse in Tribeca.
Cheating rumours
In 2014, rumours began to surface stating that Jay-Z might have had an affair. In 2016, Beyonce's sixth studio album, 'Lemonade,' was released with many fans and critics believing it was a 'Cathartic release' for Beyoncé as songs on the album were centred around adultery and forgiveness.
The song 'Sorry,' stood out amongst her fanbase the "BeyHive," not only as a defiant break-up song but there was a figure described as "Becky with the good hair," which left them trying to connect the dots to whom Beyoncé was referencing. Many fans were convinced that the rumours about Jay-Z being unfaithful were confirmed on this project.
Adding fuel to the fire, Jay-Z released his album '4:44,' with the album-titled track being an open apology letter to his wife where he discusses being a 'bad' husband and the possibility of cheating on her resulting in himself feeling guilty for the way he has treated her over the last few years.
Following the release of the album, Jay-Z interviewed with The New York Times discussing pain and negative feelings: “The hardest thing is seeing pain on someone’s face that you caused, and then have to deal with yourself.”
Their children
Bey and Jay share three children - daughter Blue Ivy, 12, and seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir. Fans have regularly seen Blue Ivy performing alongside her mom, with her taking to the stage to sing for a string of dates on her world tour earlier this year, while the twins have kept a lower profile.
Rumi meanwhile made history in 2024 breaking the world record for youngest female singer on Billboard Hot 100 chart. Rumi was recognized on the hot 100 for her feature in her mum's hit song Protector from her newly released country-inspired album Cowboy Carter. Rumi's twin brother Sir has still remained relatively low-key compared to his sister's but with a rich heritage and musical family like his it is surely just a matter of time before he also makes his foray into the family business.
